Hello again from the nation's capital !
Carter and Randy have been baching it this week. Paula is in Paris on business: O.E.D.C. (Organization of Economic Developed Countries) meetings. We have missed her since Tuesday. Life has been different. She departed Tuesday afternoon and will return on Sunday afternoon. She had Saturday to herself and spent the day shopping. We also can't wait to see her hair cut. She saved the government two thousand dollars by staying an extra day.
Carter has been sick with the flu since Tuesday night. He was hacking, sneezing and blowing his nose constantly. He has been sucking Benalyn syrop which kept it at bay. He is feeling a lot better today but still has a red nose and face. He started physical therapy last Friday after having his cast removed last Wednesday. Yes... the cast was removed after only three weeks. OMG has it been that long since the incident. The doctors were impressed at how the fracture is mending. They ordered that he had to start moving the knee as soon as possible. Last Friday he could only bend the knee 50 degrees and is improved to over 90 degrees since. The improvement is due mostly to the reduction of the swelling but he also has stretches he must do three times a day. The therapist added three more stretches yesterday afternoon. Carter also peddled a stationary bike for 7 minutes. He burned 25 calories and traveled 10 metres. No pressure on the right leg for at least four more weeks. He has a leg brace but rarely wears it on his leg. He complains when he has to put it on for safety. He has been brave and went up and down the stairs a couple of times yesterday afternoon. He is getting a little antsy.
His hockey team starts playoffs today against the Ranger White team. The first game is at 3:30 pm. We will go and cheer on the Green team. It is hard to believe the regular season is already over. The team that Carter last played against did not make the playoffs; how unfortunate. Go Rangers Go.
Randy has been very busy at work bringing lots of homework home and also administering the Spring 4 on 4. It doesn't start until April but we are almost totally booked. We should have charged more money. Lots of whiners wanting their little Wayne Gretzkies moved up a notch, all from the entightled lot (frenchies), and they will get their way. Oh well who am I to stop the injustice.
The weather has been a lot more hospitable the past two weeks. We haven't shoveled or had rain for over a week. It has been warm during the day so we have huge icicles hanging down our eaves. Some were so long they were at my belly button. The side walk at the back has three inches of ice on it this morning. It turned bitterly cold during the night. Thank god Bob jumped into bed last night. He has spent the last three nights cuddling with Carter under his covers. We thought dogs didn't like to be covered but Bob loves to get under the covers and snuggle.
We were in bed early last night - 10pm after enjoying Randy's delicious home made pizza and then up early this morning. Randy showered, had the dishes done, laundry started, fetched groceries, fridge cleaned, cookies baked and Carter up and fed before 10am (thank god for espresso). The laundry continues and that is pretty much it for today. Time to update the blog then update the Spring 4 on 4 lists.
Have a great week. Happy Valentine's Day !
