Hello again from the nation's capital !
Well our warm weather has dwindled down to a few hours a day. The sun will soon set on our weekend and the cold will return. It has dropped down to -5C the last couple of mornings ... it feels cold. Poor Bob will have to get used to doing his business out in the cold. Heck, we all have to get used to it. The winter coats have come out of storage.
Carter had a good week with two goals and a couple of assists this week. He continues to have fun. He even wants us to rent him more ice time so he can practise. We had two games this past week, two practises yesterday and a game today. They are on a winning streak Yahoo! He was formally asked to play with the '67 AAA Bantam Spring Hockey team. The coach was waiting outside the rink for us before the game. We talked with him for a few minutes about the team, fee's, schedule etc. He is cool with Carter playing lacrosse and understands that most of the boys have other interests (sports - soccer, golf etc). The season is over the first weekend of June and the team enters only four tournaments. Carter was excited to learn he was being considered. We were trying to keep it secret but before today's game one of his team mates told him the coach would be watching him 'like a hawk'. The coach's first words to us (after the game) were "He is on the team". We game him our email and phone number and will hear from him soon. He has to purchase new jerseys and book and pay for ice. Team fee's will be due soon. A couple of Carters friends will also play on the team. We are so excited!
It was a sickly week around here. Paula stayed at home most of the week suffering with bronchitis. She visited the doctor and has been on medication (antibiotics) ever since. Carter stayed home on Friday mostly suffering from growing pains and exhaustion. He awoke this morning sneezing, coughing and a bit feverish. Randy had the same thing on Friday but suffered at work then medicated himself with cocktails...it actually worked. Bob is the only one not suffering. We have spent the afternoon relaxing. It will soon be time to cook supper.
Yesterday after the first practise Carter brought a buddy home. They spent most of the time down stairs shooting on his net and playing on the PS3. Paula cooked them a good lunch, which they quickly devoured, to replenish their calories before the second practise. Paula also made a few Xmas cookies and brittle. Randy did dishes and baked chocolate chip cookies before whisking the boys back to the rink. After practise we watched two house league hockey games at the neighborhood arena. It was nice visiting with the parents and watching Carters friends. We spent the evening watching the Senators get pounced by Vancouver. Bedtime came early for us all - no complaints from Carter.
We look forward to reading your reports. Have a great week.
