Hello again from the nation's capital !
Winter is almost upon us. The day light hours are short, the temperature is cool and almost all the leaves have fallen. It won't be long until the white stuff arrives. Hopefully it won't arrive before our favorite holiday, Halloween.
We have been a bit busy around here. Last night we went out to get the RV. The weather man forecast freezing temperatures; which thankfully did not appear. By nine o'clock we had finished and returned home for roast beef dinner. The microwave warmed it up to near perfection.
Carter stayed home from school today as he was feeling under the weather. He is currently out shooting the basketball in the front drive. He said he needed some fresh air. He spent the day wrapped in a quilt snuggling with Bob on the couch. Paula came home from work Monday morning with the flu. She returned to work today. We will have a cocktail ready for her when she gets home... three days to catch up on.
Tuesday after work was spent raking and cleaning up the back yard, a quick dinner and off to the rink to watch a game. Two big paper recycle bags were filled and one grocery bag of dog poop. The grass could use a mow. That can wait until Friday.
Monday was hockey practise out in Leitrim. Carter arrived just in time as the location on the calender was incorrect. No more practises until Friday. He skates with the AA team. He is excited - hope he can keep up with them.
Carter played games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday last weekend. They won two out of the three and Carter scored two nice goals. He scored from the blue line with a wicked slap shot on Saturday and again on Sunday on a break away. He powered a wrist shot from just inside the blue line. He spotted a hole and hit the target dead on. His on-ice antics afterward were a bit dramatic. You'd have thought it was his first ever goal. Paula got it on video. It was the only goal his team scored that game, thus the loss. Carter has excellent passing ability. If his team mates caught half of them they would have several goals. We hope that develops over time.
If we weren't at the rink on the weekend we were busy doing chores , shopping or out watching other Ranger teams. Carter was blessed with new Total One hockey pants and shoulder pads. We live very close to Earl Armstrong arena where most Ranger games are played. We take advantage and watch as many as possible. The Junior A games would be good but it costs $12 admission (too much $ & we're too poor). The Junior Griffins admission is only $5.
Carter is in now and we just carried his hockey net down the stairs. Best get dinner started as the boss will be home shortly.
Have a good weekend.
