Hello again from the nation's capital !
It has been another fantastic summer weekend. We spent the majority of it in frozen hockey rinks. I guess that is the price we pay for playing and evaluating competitive hockey. It was very cool each morning (it felt like fall). Thankfully we were able to stay in bed late each morning. The geese are heading south by the millions. It has been crazy here the last couple of evenings and mornings. According to the neighbors the weather forecast is dismal for the next couple of weeks. Apparently we don't have hockey practise next weekend until 8:30 Sunday night so hopefully we get away camping. It has been a few weeks since the RV has been on the road: we sure miss it.
Carter had hockey a couple nights last week and again on Friday night. We went to watch the other team on Saturday. The two teams were finalized last night. I guess there were a lot of unhappy parents. We heard all kinds of rumors of parents telling their kids to play crappy. Turns out the old A team is mostly on their own team with their clique and the new A players on our team except those that whined and asked to play together. Let them have their way is our motto. We are just thankful to be playing and on a team. One player even refused to come to our game today and a few phoned the coach and said you must be wrong we were placed on the wrong team. Politics plays a major part of the Rangers and Gloucester Hockey Association - no bigs news to us. On Friday we had our biggest chuckle with the GHA. We met an aquaintance outside having a smoke. Turns out he was evaluating the Minor Bantam Blues competitive team. The hilarious part is he has never been on skates and was asked at the local bar one night while drunk as a skunk. We have now seen everything.
Carter had to sit out todays game against the Silver Seven. The team was short two defenseman and one forward but still managed to skate their asses off and tie the game. We were especially proud of the defense players (only 4) as they did an excellent job of defending the two goalies. Both goalies played today and did an amazing job. With a full team we should have an excellent team. Carter played his best game of the season on Friday night. He was on fire with many break aways and several post clanging shots on net. The Silver Seven goalie played a very good game stopping many shots on net. He was on fire.
It was nice having Megan visit us this week. We missed having her on Friday and this weekend. We have not heard but hopefully she made it home safe and sound.
Carter enjoyed his first week of school. He is trying out for all the teams he can. He scored six goals on Friday during soccer in gym class and he is on the school frisbee team. He spent a couple hours studying and doing homework tonight. He will not be falling behind in his studies. He has hockey practise three nights next week and their first tournament of the season is Thanksgiving weekend. I guess we better cancel our camping spot at Fitzroy.
That was our week. We look forward to hearing all about your week.
