Hello again from the nation's capital !
It is 8:50pm and the temperature is 29C. It was a very hot long weekend. We spent the majority of it at hockey rinks but the irony is that is was for lacrosse. No ice, no coolness. We are not complaining as we have not had a weekend like this all season. However we are spending the evening inside enjoying the coolness our air conditioner provides.
The Peewee One Griffins made it to the finals. They lost to Khanawake 6-2 this afternoon. Too bad as they played a good tournament with three wins and one loss to make it to the finals. Carter had a good tournament scoring quite a few goals, assisting on a few and playing to the best of his ability considering his injuries. He spent the week at Saints Field Lacrosse Camp in Canton, N.Y. and came home with a few to many bruises and injuries. His feet from being stepped on with cleats, his legs and arms from being whacked from sticks and a huge welt on the back of his neck from a ball playing some stupid field game with older players. Oh well. He played on like a trooper and out shone anyone on his team playing pretty much 75% of every game. He managed to get the first goal of each game which helped lead his team to their victories.
We travel to Sachs Harbour N.Y. to partake in the 1812 Field Lacrosse Tournament next weekend. We will stay in a state camp site Friday and Saturday night in the RV and travel to and from the one day tournament on Saturday. We hope the weather remains hospitable.
We hope everyone had as enjoyable Canada Day as we had in Ottawa. We enjoyed a few fireworks at dusk then were home in bed by 10:30pm. We missed visiting with the Royal couple, maybe next time. We also hope Merv enjoyed a marvelous 80th birthday celebration.
Go Rider's Go!
