Hello again from the nation's capital !
Happy Father's Day (belated) ! I did not get a chance to get on the computer last night. I have third pecking order in this household. I was also to busy doing dishes, laundry and garbage/recycling duties. We are glad to hear you all had a good weekend.
We spent Sunday am sleeping in quite late. Randy was still the first out of bed (needed a gel cap to dull the skull cramps at 8am). Paula made us a nice late breakfast of sausage and eggs. We all read, napped or played computer games most of the day. Randy helped with Peewee 4 on 4 from 2:30 until 4:00 then helped with Bantam from 4 to 5. Carter had lots of ice time with only twelve players; they played three on three. So did the Peewee group. Carter skated for the first time on his new CCM skates (don't dare ask what they cost). He was skating circles 'round the other players but still managed some awesome passes and goals. He was totally gassed by the end.
Paula BBQ'd ribs, corn on the cob and made a nice cole slaw salad with carrot cake for dessert. It was all eaten in moderation so we could experience the dessert again before bed. Um delicious. Randy helped by doing the dishes (our dishwasher has been on the fritz for weeks).
Saturday was lacrosse practise at 10. We also attended a pancake breakfast in the parking lot. The two scheduled games were cancelled last minute. One player from Kanawake (quebec reserve team) showed up for the game at 10:50; that was hilarious. Carter stayed and shot the ball until 11:45 then we toured the midway. Nothing appealed to Carter so we sped home. Oh yeah, Randy & Paula ventured to Crappy Tire and bought a 14" push lawn mower (on sale for $50). Randy spent the balance of the day and early evening trimming hedges, tree's and shrubs. The hardest part is clean up and cutting up the big branches. We ended up with three heavy brown bags of waste. Paula did the shopping, read her book and BBQ'd smokie's for dinner. We ate quickly then ventured back to the rink for a Junior B lacrosse game. Carter went straight in while Randy & Paula got side tracked in the Beer Gardens. We visited with hockey acquaintances for the balance of the night then returned to our place for more refreshments. A good night was had by all. Thus, the skull cramps on Sunday morning.
Friday afternoon was spent shopping for new skates. Carter settled on the second coolest pair of Ovi CCM U12 skates. The Ultra lites were $799 + HST. We then went to see Pirates of the Caribean movie in Imax 3D. It was okay... not worth the $15 admission. We were hoping to see the Transformer movie. We got out of the hot sun for the afternoon. We returned home for BBQ burgers and corn on the cob (by Paula). We attended the Junior B lacrosse game - most exciting with overtime and lots of goals. The Griffins lost 13-14 to Kanwake (first placed team). Unfortunately they got knocked out of the playoffs. The Junior teams season has come to a close.
As you know already Carter attended his Grade Six graduation on Thursday. It was a nice mass with a nice lunch afterwards. Carter looked dapper in his matching shirt and tie. He won the science award.
Carter also played a lacrosse game on Thursday night after spending the afternoon at a pool party. The team was down 0-3 after the first period. Carter went on to score three goals and the team won 5-3 against the Neapean Knights. It was not there best team effort but they are improving.
That is about it. We are camping at the Higley Flow State Park in New York this weekend. We drop Carter off at St Lawrence University on Sunday for five days of field lacrosse camp. He did it last year and even more Griffins are attending this year. It will be a hoot.
Have a great week!
