Hello again from the nation's capital !
It all comes down to one game. Tonight the Canuck's and the Bruin's will battle for the Cup. There is a buzz in Ottawa that the Bruin's will win. Who knows. We are certain most of you will be watching.
Paula took Carter to his lacrosse practise tonight. They left a few minutes ago and should be back by 8:30. They won't miss to many Boston goals. Carter attended an Ultimate Frisbee school tournament today. It is hot today and he was a tad grumpy when he got home. He also forgot to take his water bottle so he was also very thirsty. He still managed to have lots of fun and had enough energy to play soccer with his friends after school.
Tuesday night he had a quick supper before rushing to hockey. His skates are so small he could hardly stand up straight. I guess we best bite the bullet and get him some new skates. We surfed the net and discovered that adult skates are fifty percent more expensive than Junior skates. We ended the evening making a proper dinner, doing laundry, dishes, etc and watched a bit of television. Carter was wiped and in bed sleeping quite early.
Monday night it was also chore night. Carter also had lacrosse. Paula did the grocery shopping. We did manage to catch most of the hockey game. How exciting it was to watch Boston set a new record for number of goals in a set time period. Mr. Thomas was spectacular as expected (and he will be again tonight). We also picked Bob up from Pet Smart. He had a wonderful stay. He went straight to his kennel and slept until morning.
Our weekend was spent in Brampton. Home of Osama Bin Laden marters. You see very few caucasians on the streets. There are many muslims. We saw cars with Osama pictures in the back window, shrines mourning his death... it was unreal. People publicly praising his life. So much for freedom of worship. Two mothers went shopping to a mall and wondered why people were staring at them. They suddenly realized they were the only whites in site.
The weekend started leaving the house at 10:30am and driving the 416 and 401 until 4:40pm. We made a few toilet/smoke breaks and saw lots of road kill including five big turtles (a first for us). Traffic was light but we had two major 40 minute slow downs due to highway construction. The temperature was nice at 22C so it wasn't to hot (we are to cheap to use the a/c). Haid spray works well to keep your hair manageable from open window wind. We did manage to use less than 8 litres per 100km's. Not bad eh! We drove 550 km's on a half tank of gas. Yes, we got passed quite a bit traveling 114km/hr but we still managed to pass the odd semi or Prius. We even got passed by a Smart car. Paula was totally embarrased.
We were in Brampton to attend our second lacrosse tournament of the season. Friday nights game was a total write off. The Griffins lost big time to Burlington (whom I think won the tourney). The boys couldn't throw, pass or run. Carter was somewhat confused as he trys his best every game. Oh well. The boys showed up for the next three games and we lost much more respectfully. We were quite proud of there performance this weekend. The drive home was much more relaxing with no highway construction. When we got home our new basketball post was delivered and Carter and I put it together. It should provide lots of activity for Carter and his dad. As soon as we finished the assembly it started to pour. We came in and unpacked, did laundry, had a late dinner and went to bed exhausted.
The weather has been just okay until today when it finally decided to get hot. Not to hot and not to humid. If it stays like this all summer we'll be more than happy.
Carter celebrates graduation from Thomas D'Arcy McGee School at 10:30 mass with a pot luck lunch afterwards tomorrow June 16th. His proud parents will both attend. He has one project due otherwise most school lessons have ceased. He will take the last week off school to once again attend lacrosse camp at St. Lawrence University (in New York state). He is very excited.
It was nice to read all the reports and find you are just as busy. The time is flying by to fast. Have a great week.
