Hello again from the nation's capital !
Happy Mother's Day! We hope you all enjoy a beautiful day.
It has been a very relaxing Sunday morning for Paula. Much like any other Sunday she got to sleep in, enjoy her tea and a chai latte, knitted up a storm, was served breakfast then got to watch her favorite Sunday tv show, Question Period, on CTV. She just emerged from the shower and has started working on her scrap booking. Obviously she is making herself a Mother's Day card. Carter and Randy are expected to clean up for a family photo. Hope we can find the hair brush as that is the extent of our cleaning up on Sunday - Ha!
We had an enjoyable Saturday. After a few morning chores we were off to the arena for an 11:00am lacrosse game. Carter's team lost by quite a few goals (4). They played very good in the first two periods but ran out of steam in the third. Carter played a very good hard hitting game. He was hitting hard, running fast and passing the ball like a pro. He took a bad hit in the second period while killing a penalty. He broke out from his zone along the boards and was met by three stalky native opponents. They hit hard but could not stop him. He used his strength and skill to manouver through the enemy lines. He eluded them at the red red line and continued on his breakaway only to be thwarted by their 200 pound goal tender. He ended up with a big scratch and a big bruise on his neck from the play. It was a very dirty game. One of the reasons we lost the game. The newbies on the team need to get more aggressive. Carter was named the team captain. He is a very good leader.
We spent the afternoon as a family at the St Laurent shopping mall. After a nice lunch at the food court we wondered the mall. Randy needed new summer shoes and Carter needed a new huggy and oh yeah Paula needed to pick out a Mother's Day gift. All our goals were accomplished in just over three hours. Paula was very kind to R & C and kept the 'shopping' portion to a minimum concentrating on the three goals. The balance of the evening was spent in front of the boob tube watching NLL lacrosse (Toronto Rock - 12 vs Buffalo Bandits - 11). It was a very exciting Eastern final game. The Rock now play May 12 against the western team - Calgary or someone else. We watched a bit of the Vancouver game but went to bed early when they began to loose by two goals.
The conservatives managed a majority HURRAY ! We couldn't be more happy; no more elections for at least four years.. We were invited to greet the prime minister at the airport hanger on Monday night. The call, message, was not received until 5:30pm and we had lacrosse practise otherwise we would have been proud to attend. We watched it live on television. The coverage of Monday nights election was thrilling. We could hardly leave the room for a smoke or bathroom break. We flipped from CBC, CTV and Global. We are not big CBC (the Liberal network) fans but must admit they had the best overall coverage. CTV needs to retire/put to pasture a few of their old geezers (dinosaurs) and get hip to the twenty first century. We stayed up to watch and listen to Stephen Harper's acceptance speech. It was a long night and an even longer Tuesday at work.
Well, best get on with the day, once again Happy Mother's Day.
And it is also noted, that love and envy do make a man pine, which other affections do not, because they are not so continual.
