Hello again from the nation's capital !
Spring has sprung! We enjoyed a beautiful warm weekend with temperatures hitting 12C each day. The city was alive with motorcycles, joggers, baby carriages, sea gulls, mating song birds, rugby & soccer players, etc. We even took Bob to the park and let him romp around the wet grass. He had a blast then slept all afternoon. Randy spent most of the day outside shoveling dog poop, a whole pail full, and raking the front yard, collecting two big brown recycle bags full of yard debris. It felt so nice to be outside doing yard chores. Will he still feel this way in October...who knows. He also brought up all the Easter decorations from the basement and put them on the front grass. We'll maybe share a photo from a previous year (April 2009) as it looks the same. The neighbors make nice comments. They don't remember we put them out every year.
We also spent the weekend watching a few hockey games. Carter's friends that play house league started playoffs so we took in a few house league games. We just returned from watching two games tonight. One team lost by one goal and the other, with Carter's class mates, won 5-0 and now goes on to the finals on Saturday. It was exciting cheering for them and watching them win.
Carter is feeling a whole lot better and has returned to school in the afternoons. He has been headache free since Friday afternoon. He still gets tired easily and looks exhausted with just half a day at school. With rest and relaxation he will soon be back to 100%.
Lacrosse tryouts began on Saturday and Sunday. The coach and organizers told him he wasn't allowed on the field until he was feeling and looking better. This made his parents very happy as he was determined to participate. We stood on the side lines and watched the fifty some kids trying out for the two competitive teams. The coaches know what he is capable of and they are not concerned if he misses tryouts. He will give it a go this coming weekend, as long as he has his mothers blessing.
Glad to read about your holiday Roberta. It sounds like you had an incredible trip. I'll bet you missed your family and are glad to be home. Will you be placing your pictures on a website? Hoping you will share. We are also glad to hear Ron & Carol are on the mend; please remember that at your age you have to slow down a bit, yuk-yuk. Wondering if Carol has a good recipe for Rabbit stew. Ruth & Larry sure enjoy the grand childrens company. You are lucky to see them lots. Pretty soon you'll be enjoying your new lot at the lake. Rick & Marianne... do you guys ever slow down. Hope you are enjoying the renovated digs. We are still waiting for some pictures. Paula enjoyed her chat with Alex. How's Jared enjoying the new job. He's probably running his department by now. Reg & Barb - you two sure like to travel. Hope you have better luck next time ice fishing. Nice pic's of the hockey team. You played a whole game with only how many players. Wow, you must be off the weed. Merv & Marlene will be in their glory watching curling and hockey. Hope mom doesn't get a ticket for speeding or running other scooters off the side walk. Remember to put a big blue flag on your scooter and carry a cell phone. This way if Merv can't keep pace you can always find him. Go Blades Go!
Well, here's to warmer weather. I'm off to see if I can catch a nap - there must be curling on TSN... just kidding!
