Hello again from the nation's capital !
Once again we find ourselves at the hockey rink. This time it is for lacrosse. Tryouts began two weeks ago for competitive lacrosse. Carter once again earned a spot on the Competitive One team. The coach gave him the thumbs up and asked that he be the leader of the team this season. We are quite proud. Carter was unable to play with the other competitors due to his concussion. He has garnered respect from the league and the coaches based on his past and winter participation. He was quite upset yesterday when the coach told him he was not allowed on the floor. We all want Carter to recouperate from his head injury. He did practise for a few minutes with the guys prior to last game tryouts and cheered for his buddies, quite loudly, from the sidelines.
Carter visited the doctor once again on Friday morning. The doctor told him he was allowed to practise but no shifts in hockey or lacrosse for another week. He has been symptom free for one week which is what the doctor said previously. He is now anxious to start practise on Tuesday and again on Thursday. Spring hockey 4 x 4 begins next Saturday and Sunday and he is also anxious to get back on the ice. We will get him out to a skating session before hand. He is excited and we are anxious to get him off our case.
We spent the weekend at lacrosse and at the rink watching a few house league final games. We also managed to get some back yard chores competed. Another full bag of Bob droppings was collected. The weather was perfect on Friday and Saturday. It was nice again today until the showers started. It has been raining since 2:30. April showers bring May flowers. Our daffodils are well out of the ground and we expect blooms before next weekend. All the summer birds are back. It is nice to hear them all chirping in the am and pm. The groundhogs are back and a skunk sprayed our neighbors yard on Thursday night. What a good awful smell.
The commercial kitchen business and hockey volunteering has Randy as busy as he as ever been. It has been a struggle to keep up with demand. Customers continue to wait for our professional service. Paula is also as busy as ever as she has lots of catching up after tending to our ailing son for the past two or three weeks. Carter was back at school half time this past week and will resume full time studies next week. He was a bit depressed not being able to participate on the basketball team and managed to catch up on his homework in two days. He wnet on a class trip to the high school he will attend next year. They toured all the different classes and met up with some old friends. Carter was totally beat when he returned. They walked as a class the two kilometres to the school and back. Randy picked him up early on Friday as he sprained his ankle kicking the punching bag, the dumb secretary told us he injured it playing chess.
Well, that was our week. Hope you are all enjoying some nice spring like weather. And yes, the curling finals have started - should be good for a snooze. The Masters final hour was totally exciting.
