Hello again from the naiton's capital !
Carter sends a big THANK YOU for all his birthday greetings and presents. He can't wait to work on the puzzle. We haven't had a whole lot of spare time this weekend to celebrate. We will take him out for dinner tonight to celebrate.
Carter took to the floor on Tuesday and again on Thursday at lacrosse practise. He is allowed to practise only. He did not partake in the first game of the season Saturday morning. He did cheer on his team from the sideline with teary eyes. He was not happy he couldn't play. We will wait another week or maybe even until our first away tournament in two weeks. His coach wants him back at 100% so is not rushing him and we appreciate his concern. He certainly is not out of shape from resting and relaxing the last four weeks. He kept up with all his team mates at practise. He was in bed very early after practise.
Paula took him shopping after the game Saturday morning. He bought a new lacrosse head and a couple of new balls. They then went to another sports store and purchased some much needed sweat pants and shorts. He has out grown the pants we purchased in January. He has moved up to men's size 28 as the boys clothes are to small. With summer on the way he will have no need for new jeans until fall. They went to the lacrosse store with the intent of purchasing new shoulder and kidney pads. Like son-like mother they got side tracked. They spent over an hour shopping for their meager purchases.
Speaking of summer - our weather has turned back to fall like conditions. Rain, wind and cool temperatures have plagued our weekend. It was kind of ironic as spring 4 on 4 resumed on Saturday and Sunday. We had a small dusting of the white stuff during the first two sessions. Randy has spent the past two months organizing this years GCMHA Spring 4 x 4 and it has finally started. It runs until June 20 every Sunday. Carter returned to the ice on Saturday and Sunday skating in the Bantam level. He was so excited and happy to play. It is non-contact hockey so we aren't worried about hits. Carter skated his heart out never missing a beat. It was nice watching him play. He really has a presence on the ice. He played defense but made several break aways skating through the opponents with ease. He managed a few goals and made some incredible assists. He was tripped today by an unsportsman like Blues team mate today earning a penalty shot. The other players line up behind on the blue line and try to chase him from the red line. He scored easily with a nice back hand deak shot. He also made several back checks from the usual cherry pickers sitting on the red line. He was totally spent and had a huge smile on his face after both sessions. We are so proud of his talent and competiveness at both sports.
Randy was happy that every thing went well after the first day. He had a sleep less night on Friday fretting about anything and everything that could go wrong. We have competent convenors for each level: novice, atom, peewee, bantam and midget. He slept much better on Saturday night.
Carter also returned full time to school this week. All went well with no phone calls from the school. He has caught up on his school work and wrote a nice short story this week. He spent a few hours playing with his buddies so I guess he is back to normal.
That was our week. Have a wonderful Easter Weekend.
