Busy Weekend In Ottawa
Hello again from the nation's capital !
Late again this week. Haven't even had a chance to read the letters received to date. Just returned from the dentists office. Carter had his bi-annual cleaning and annual flouride treatment. It meant no food or water for thirty minutes. We cruised the Gloucester mall afterwards. That meant sitting in front of the wide screen t.v. watching the last fifteen minutes of Ghost Rider. Now we don't need to rent the movie.
It has been a busy weekend. Today, Monday, Paula and Carter spent the day together. Fete National celebrations in Quebec so no working allowed. They do not celebrate Canada Day in Quebec. Anyhow, the two holidayers had a busy day. Shopping for teachers presesnts etc. They also went to the new three hole golf course a few minutes drive from our house. They couldn't get on so opted for the driving range. P taught C how to golf. She even went to the used sports store and purchased him some clubs. Right handed clubs in case you are interested. He swings pretty good. We are hoping he gets into a golf camp for a week this summer. They had a busy day. Carter is anxious to get a lesson from his uncle Ron. We told him you are almost a professional. Randy spent the day at work. It was another warm day in Ottawa.
Yesterday, Sunday, was another action packed day. Carter attended another B-day party and ended up spending the whole day and evening with Patrick and his family. The parents say he behaves with them so is welcome in their household. They took the boys out for dinner and were quite loud. Who cares, we didn't have to endure the noise. After a hard day of chores and running errands Paula and Randy enjoyed a nice quiet BBQ'd dinner.
Saturday was a mournful day. A co-worker of Randy's died of a heart attack. On Thursday he went in for surgery to cure a stomach problem. When they removed the air support hose from his mouth he suffered a severe heart attack. They immediately opened him and repaired two valves. It was not enough and the next day while they were attempting to fit an artificial heart he died. He was only 46 and survive with two young adult children and an X wife. Randy attended a memorial service for him on Sunday. It was a sad affair. The funeral is in Fredericton on Wednesday. We found his will on Saturday morning while cleaning out his desk. Weird eh. He wanted to donate his organs but he had been dead too long. Other than that we were kept busy with Carter and yard chores.
Friday night was another soccer game. Carter was tremendous. He scored one goal on a break away. He did a few celebratory back flips. Dad was attending duties as a side line judge and was jumping and screaming with delight. Their team never won the game, if you can believe it, due to the fact half their team played for the opposition. Carter has become quite aggressive. He is a good defensive player. We didn't get rained out this week. The weather was windy and cool. Working the sidelines helped keep the body warm. The boys play way better in the cool weather.
Our week was much the same. Carter has been allowed to watch a couple cartoons after work / school. His report card was received and he did dam good. He was rewarded with two new PSP games. His grade five level three reading skills make us proud. They are only judged to level four in each grade. He did very good in all his other classes. Enough bragging. We also attended the T D McGee end of year BBQ. Other than that P & C both did alot of homework. Nothing much else to report tonight. Am anxious to read all the letters. Have a great Canada Day celebration wherever it finds you.
